The Pathology Laboratory at ZHUMC was founded in 1991. Headed by Dr. Marwan Saliba, it offers all services related to surgical tissue biopsies and cytology.
Working Hours
The Pathology Laboratory at ZHUMC operates from 7:00am till 4:00pm during week days, and 7:00am till 1:00pm on Saturdays.
Services
The Pathology Laboratory offers complete pathology and cytopathology services. All specimens are processed and examined in our laboratory using advanced techniques. We collect specimens twice a day from the operating room and from the endoscopy unit. Specimens from floors and private clinics are accepted at any time during working hours.
We guarantee effective communication with medical staff concerning the adequacy of specimens and the assumed findings. Final diagnosis is communicated to attending physicians, usually within three days.
For some complex cases or when advanced techniques are required such as immunofluorescence or molecular studies, we have access to the AUBMC-Pathology department for formal diagnosis.
Additionally, we provide training opportunities for laboratory pathology students of other medical institutions.
The laboratory archives all pathology slides and blocks, and registers them electronically in case reexamination is required. This facilitates research and statistics.
