Clinical Research Unit
Overview

The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) was newly founded in 2018 in association with a fully active Institutional Review Board (IRB). This unit operates through a delegation of authority from the General Director of Al-Zahraa Hospital University Medical Center (ZHUMC). CRU’s mission is to promote, support and administer all sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical research. It provides service and support to ZHUMC physicians, administration, and staff in soliciting research funding and operating clinical trials.

Committee

At present, the CRU is staffed with a director, a full-time CRU administrator, a full-time research coordinator, and a part-time research coordinator. The staffing of the unit is determined by the workload. The majority of CRU members are either employees appointed by the hospital, or physicians appointed according to hospital regulations and bylaws; hence, are subject to hospital regulations. In addition, the unit receives support from different hospital departments.
